The process of the shoot can be very educational. My process very like the process a supermodel goes through in each fashion shoot. Clients are styled by a professional and then they are coached by a photographer/creative director to achieve the vision. After the shoot is completed, the images are processes and packaged for the format they will be shared on. The ladies that come through now understand everything that goes into creating the beautiful images seen in fashion magazines.

Read MoreI could go through a list of the costs of the studio we shoot in, the equipment I use, the high quality prints and albums that you receive, however, in the end that doesn’t really matter. What matters is that my clients, YOU, unanimously have wonderful experiences. I’ll outline a bit of the value you’ll receive from working with me.

Read MoreIt seems like the majority of clients who come in have tattoos now. Often times these ladies have booked a shoot specifically to highlight some new ink they just got. Though I personally don’t have any tattoos myself, I can see that they can really add a cool look to a shoot. I have a few tips for any lady who comes in hoping to highlight their beautiful tattoos:

Read MoreI’m very interested in the history of boudoir imagery, and the source of some of the iconic looks we all have in mind but don’t know exactly why they are familiar. There have been some particularly influential historic characters who have influenced the boudoir look, and I’ve highlighted a few. Have I missed any?
Read MoreI can speak with experience: you are never too old for a boudoir shoot, there are gorgeous women of every age who have had amazing shoots with me. For a successful shoot, it’s all about confidence and personality! Women in their 40s carry these qualities in spades. Nothing ages better than a great personality. This is not to diminish the real physical beauty of these 40-somethings that worked with me.
Read MoreWhenever I introduce myself to anyone, I usually describe myself as a boudoir photography. One of the most common reactions I get from women is “I’d love to do a boudoir shoot after I lose weight!” While I am totally on board with treating a boudoir shoot as a reward for hitting a fitness goal, I also think women default to the “…after I lose weight.” excuse far too often.
Read MoreSimply amazing! Every woman should make it a priority to do this kind of a photo shoot. Do it for yourself! I left there floating on cloud 9!! I had no idea I could feel that way about seeing pictures of myself. Liz was kind, easy to talk to, and an expert at making you look gorgeous!! I cannot express how positive this photo shoot was for me.
Read MoreOne specific request I get occasionally is to share some information about inexpensive lingerie, which I’m happy to do. I’ve recently found Amazon to be a good source for inexpensive lingerie. Inexpensive is sometimes a nice term for “cheap”, or “comes apart in the laundry”. For the purposes of intimate lingerie for a photo shoot, that might be the only time it ever gets worn! If it gets worn more often than that it probably doesn’t stay on long (wink).
Read MorePhotographers are all well versed in the tools of retouching. It’s just a fundamental tool of the trade. Retouching means different things to different people. I think to a photographer, the spectrum of what “retouching” or “photoshopping” is a lot wider than non-photographers generally understand. For instance, sometimes I fix something as simple as a freckle or a flyaway hair. Some non-photographers immediately think of photoshopping as adding UFOs to an image.
Read MoreI really enjoy when my clients do themed shoots to bring out their personality. This client was a huge Harry Potter fan but clearly was aligned with House Slytherin. There definitely was something DARK about this shoot.
Read MoreI love working as a boudoir business, it’s a truly empowering and rewarding industry. However, there are still challenges to working as a boudoir photographer, and most of those challenges center on misconceptions around what “boudoir” actually is. The “taboo” nature of shooting intimate photography makes it difficult to dispel all of the misunderstandings because people just can’t bear to discuss it!

This moment in time is one where many inequities have come to light, and many are craving the friendship and attention of like-minded people in the fight for fairness. On the other hand there are some terrible humans who think this is an opportunity to get laid more easily.

Resisting too much against Liz’s posing guidance could totally disrupt the shoot. Though you may have frustrations resist the urge to badmouth your co-workers when you’re chatting in hair and makeup.

If there is only one takeaway from this blog, I want you to know that you are beautiful, special and worthy of being loved! We are bombarded with airbrushed images of women with perfect skin, impossible waistlines and killer confidence everywhere we go. We are marketed shape wear, makeup concealer and over and over we’re told that we’re not good enough. That’s absolutely not true!
