I got a flat tire last week ... and my thoughts about life today - from the Chicago Boudoir Photography Studio
I got a flat tire last week.
Somehow I drove over a stick somewhere that punctured the tire and then broke off - that was a strong stick!
Fortunately, it wasn’t a huge deal. I didn’t have anywhere urgent to be. And the weather was nice. I opened up my trunk and had a spare and the jack in there, but the spare was out of air. Turns out, I haven’t ever needed to use that spare in the 10+ years that I’ve owned the car!
So I called roadside assistance and they came and change the tire and pumped up the spare and I drove over to the tire place and bought a new tire.
No biggie.
BUT the whole flat tire incident did get me thinking!
As I was sitting there waiting for the roadside assistance people to show up, I was thinking this thought: “I sure spend a lot of my life dealing with STUFF. Just boring STUFF. Like getting the oil changed, dealing with insurance, picking up dry cleaning, AND GETTING NEW TIRES. There is just so much of that in my life right now.”
And I admit that most of this STUFF that I’m spending time on is necessary to keep my life and my family’s life running and comfortable.
And I don’t mind running errands (most of the time). I don’t mind doing menial tasks (most of the time).
But I also want to carve out time for just pure fun and enjoyment in my life.
Not things that are NECESSARY or PRODUCTIVE. Just some things that are FUN for no reason.
I was feeling the need for more of that in my life.
Sitting there at the tire store, I started brainstorming some ways that I could add a bit more fun to my life.
And the idea I came up with was to learn a few songs on the ukulele.
I know that seems totally random and out of the blue, but it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.
I grew up in a musical family (we all play some kind of instrument) and I played the flute in high school and college. I love music and want more of it in my life!
So I got a ukulele and got on youtube and learned a few songs!
I’m really not great at it, but I’m loving learning how to play the ukulele.
I’m a bit embarrassed to share because I can’t totally sing on key, but here goes ;)
Here’s me playing “You are my sunshine:”
A here’s “I lava you” from the movie Inside Out.
So what in the world do flat tires and ukulele have to do with BOUDOIR? (I realize this is a blog about the Chicago Boudoir Photography studio and what we’re up to there, afterall).
And here are my thoughts on this:
Maybe ukulele is not your thing - but…
Is a boudoir photoshoot the little bit of fun and excitement that you need in your life right now?
Would signing up for a boudoir photoshoot give you something to look forward to?
Would a boudoir photoshoot at our studio give you one day out of your month that wasn’t so mundane?
The first time that I did a boudoir photoshoot, I was so nervous I was literally shaking and could hardly breathe. I was SO nervos and intimidated! But I absolutely loved my photoshoot experience and album. That boudoir photoshoot was the first time on a path to empowerment and confidence that I didn’t know was available to me. That photoshoot opened doors in my soul that I didn’t even know were there.
