How to Come Into Your Boudoir Session with a Healthy and Powerful Mindset

What does our mindset have to do with a boudoir shoot? A lot! You may be surprised to hear that many women come into their session with a negative mindset. They think that they are not attractive and they are uncomfortable in front of the camera. These thoughts can influence how your shoot goes, and it may even affect your post-shoot experience as well.

On the other hand, many women come into the studio with a positive and powerful mindset and we can really create something special. I'm a very positive and encouraging person but there is something great about the chemistry that happens when two positive forces meet in the studio! Let us discuss how to come into your boudoir session with a strong and healthy mindset so you can embrace what is beautiful about yourself!

Ask yourself now: what's your mindset like going into your boudoir shoot?

If you are like me, our mindsets are changing day by day. We're also vulnerable to shifting conditions around us. We put on a brave face for work or even when we're out with friends and then come home drained from all of the "Shoulds" in life. It constantly feels like there is no time to recharge. This can result in a lack of confidence and becoming less than self-loving.

The more time we fill with tasks, the harder it is to have any time left for ourselves. We frequently put too many expectations on ourselves which leads us down that negative path I discussed before! It's critical to take care of ourselves and have ample time to recharge the batteries.

For our purposes, it's even more important to come into your boudoir session with a healthy and powerful mindset so you can embrace what is beautiful about yourself! What do I mean by healthy? A happy and non-judgmental attitude towards oneself and others that will allow you to find peace within and celebrate your natural beauty.

What do I mean by powerful? A mindset that will allow you to channel the inner goddess in you and focus on creating a great vibe and being fully present through poses, outfits, and fierce attitude.

How can you cultivate this mindset in the days leading up to your boudoir shoot?

  • Think to yourself about what is your "Why" for doing this boudoir shoot. Jot down some thoughts.

  • Start a daily habit of self care. Whether it's a new skin regimen, a workout or additional time for meditation, this new pattern is going to remind yourself of your worth.

  • Take a break from the negative people in your life. This is good advice anytime, but maybe this window of time before your shoot is just an excuse to clean house with unproductive relationships.

  • Get at least 8 hours of sleep a night.

  • Think about the long term. Ask yourself what you'll be doing differently with a confidence boost.

Tiredness, stress, and insecurity all oppose positivity. This is why it's so important to come into your session fresh, well-rested, in order to have a positive attitude.

On the day of your shoot:

  • Get a full night's sleep.

  • Eat a normal meal-balancing energy needs with not feeling sluggish from too much food.

  • Hydrate.

  • Block off ample time for your travel to the studio.

  • Take a shower and dry your hair.

  • No makeup, leave that to the Chicago Boudoir beauty team.
