Quarantine Report: What I've been enjoying on Netflix
The hardest question to answer these days is “What’s new?”. With the world rocked by COVID, there hasn’t been much to look forward to, but Netflix hasn’t disappointed. Netflix must have created one massive backlog to carry it through an extended quarantine because the new releases keep arriving. Here’s a quick list of what I’ve been enjoying (not all are new releases).
Unsolved Mysteries: This revival was well done even if they didn’t fully restore the most creepy music ever synthesized. True crime is hotter than it’s ever been and we’re all believers in conspiracy now. The first episode was fantastic and the rest of the first batch have been solid.
Floor is Lava: Lots of fun with average joes tackling pretty average obstacles.
Middleditch and Schwartz: A showcase for two extremely talented improvisors who take a situation from the audience and turn it into an hour-long play with the two comedians switching roles, accents, voices and seats. The first episode is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.
Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich: Surprisingly good, and surely not the last documentary we’ll see about this monster. It’s a great way to catch up before the trial of Ghislaine Maxwell starts in 2021.
Schitt’s Creek: I feel like I’m one of the last people to have watched this seriously funny fish-out-of-water comedy. The formula is familiar but it is packed with comedic talent throughout the cast.
The Guest: I was intrigued when I saw a slimmed down version of Matthew Crawley from Downton Abbey, but I kept watching for the charming villian that Dan Stevens transforms into. This is definitely a B-movie but it was a lot of fun.
Home Game: Saw the first episode about Calcio Storico. This girl loves Italy and who doesn’t mind the fitness models who play it?
