Chicago Boudoir Photography Studio Featured on the Plus Sized Prep!
I had the absolute privilege to have Charlotte from The Plus Sized Prep blog in my studio recently. I love Charlotte’s style, humor and body positivity!

Charlotte came in for a boudoir shoot and wrote about her whole experience HERE.
She started out by explaining how nervous she was about doing a boudoir shoot:
I’ve never really considered myself as a sexy woman. I don’t know why, but it was never an identifier I used when describing myself, instead turning to vocabulary such as friendly, snarky, loyal, and/or cute. So when I partnered with Liz Hansen of Chicago Boudoir Photography, I was petrified. I had always thought of boudoir photography with a certain connotation—photos of overtly sexy, pinup-style women a guys lust after. It’s an archaic mindset, I know, but I couldn’t get it out of my head. Then, the worries started: Would I have to shoot in lingerie? Would I have to “look sexy?” Should I try to put myself on a diet to lose some weight beforehand? Scenario after scenario popped into my head, each more outrageous and terrifying than the last. But, nevertheless, I wanted to try it, to prove to myself that I could. My experience could not have been more different.
She continues her description of her experience at the Chicago Boudoir Photography studio:
When I got there I met Liz, the photographer, who greeted me with such warmth and excitement. We had chatted on the phone previously, wherein I expressed my nervousness at doing a boudoir shoot. She assured me time and time again it was totally normal and that she would make me feel completely at ease.
Before we got down to shooting, we toured the studio (very luxurious and relaxing, with great feminine details) and discussed the details of the shoot. I told her I was scared. I didn’t really consider myself to be a “sexy” woman because I was self-conscious about my body and because of it had negative body image issues, even in today’s era of #bodypositivity and self-love movements.
She describes getting set up for the shoot, posing and deciding what to wear. She ended up wearing a Lane Bryant bra, leggings and a cozy sweater for one of her looks. Like I’ve said many times, “You don’t have to bare it all!”
As a 24-year-old woman, I don’t own any lingerie. I’m still in that mindset of “am I really old enough for that?” While I realize I’m an adult, I feel like owning lingerie is something a more adult-ish adult does. Like, someone waaay more than me. Am I alone in this? Do you own lingerie?
So, when I was thinking about the wardrobe for the shoot, I wanted to try to do one sexy/sexy-adjacent look and one cozy, comfortable look. I selected this floral Lane Bryant bra and paired it with a cozy pink cardigan from loft and these Nike leggings.
Overall she described her boudoir experience like this:
Every woman should do this. If you’re self-conscious, do it. If you have low self-esteem, do it. If you love your body and want to celebrate it, do it. Do it for yourself or for your boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/wife/partner, whomever. It’s such an exhilarating, empowering experience. I could not recommend Chicago Boudoir Photography more. Liz is an absolute professional and an incredibly skilled photographer.
