If regular fashion reflects how you see yourself to the world, lingerie is a more private message. It’s aspirational. Whether that’s a feminine flower child or a powerful queen – what you wear in the boudoir is telling.

Which is why it such a shame that so few style guides cover the underwear drawer! Every woman deserves to have at least a few under things that make them feel confident and sexy. It’s a way to tell yourself that you deserve quality care, even when no one else notices. Scratch that. ESPECIALLY when no one else notices.

Step one is easy. Start with what you gravitate towards wearing every single day. Whether this currently matches your ‘ideal’ personal style or not, your everyday outfits will help you determine how to find your personal style with important clues.

Consider things like color, texture, silhouette, and general aesthetic. Do any themes pop out from your most used pieces? This might just tell you what you value in fashion. In fact, you might even unlock some new values you didn’t even know you had!

You could learn that your taste in lingerie isn’t as hyper-sexual as you once thought. Take this as a challenge to discover new styles that DO excite you. Taking it one step further, why not look at your favorite ‘fancy’ bra. The one you wear to feel just a little bit extra special. What about it stands out to you? Once you know why it sparks so much joy, you can piece together some themes.

Don’t have a fancy bra? No problem. You can also start looking at celebrities who’s on-stage style really resonates with you. Maybe you love a Life of a Showgirl moment with Taylor’s glitter and fringe. Or, perhaps you prefer a Charli XCX vibe with fishnets and draped satin. Don’t let self-consciousness hold you back. Lingerie is for everybody, but not all lingerie pieces are for every body. That’s not to say certain lingerie is a “fashion don’t” for specific body types (that’s not a real thing btw). Rather, some gals need different levels of support from their lingerie pieces.

The right lingerie will feel sexy AND comfortable. Make sure that you only buy lingerie that provides the right chest support, doesn’t chafe, and gives you room to breathe. Clothes are meant to fit people, not the other way around!
