Maria’s Story: “I Didn’t Realize What Went Into Boudoir Until I Did It”
When I first started looking into boudoir photoshoots, I’ll be honest… I was a little surprised by the price.
I had seen the photos online and thought they looked beautiful, but when I started researching studios I remember thinking, Oh wow, this is more than I expected.
At first I didn’t totally get it. In my mind I was just picturing someone taking photos for an hour or something like that.
So for a while I kind of dropped the idea.
But the funny thing is, I kept coming back to it. Every once in a while I’d see another boudoir photo online and think, That looks so fun. I liked the idea of doing something a little bold and different for myself.
Eventually I reached out to Chicago Boudoir just to ask a few questions.
Talking to Liz helped a lot because she explained what the whole day actually looks like. It’s not just showing up and taking a few pictures. There’s hair and makeup, time to go through outfits, the photoshoot itself, and a lot of guidance during the session so you don’t have to know how to pose.
I decided to go ahead and book it.
The day of the shoot was when it really clicked for me.
I was there for several hours. Hair and makeup alone took a while, and it honestly felt like getting ready for a big event. The studio was beautiful, the lighting setup was really thoughtful, and Liz guided me through every single pose so I never felt awkward.
It definitely wasn’t just someone snapping a few pictures.
And then when I saw the photos later, I was kind of blown away. They looked so polished and flattering, but still like me.
That’s when I understood it better.
It’s not really just about the photos. It’s the whole experience of it. The way you feel during the shoot, the care that goes into it, and then having these images afterward that make you see yourself differently.
Looking back, I’m really glad I didn’t just look at the price and move on.
