Honored to Contribute Imagery to Tracey's Survivor Story on Lingerie Briefs!
I'm incredibly honored and excited to share a recent Chicago Boudoir Photography feature alongside a powerful story on the blog, Lingerie Briefs!
The article, written by Ellen Lewis with support from Natori Lingerie, tells the inspiring story of Tracey Mayer: Tracey’s Survivor Story: From Wounds to Wisdom.
Tracey bravely shares her journey through a chapter of domestic abuse experienced later in life, challenging the misconception that abuse only happens in certain demographics. Her story is a powerful reminder that it can affect anyone, even those who appear to have successful, affluent lives. She details the hidden nature of psychological abuse, control, and gaslighting by a partner who maintained a charming public facade, and the immense courage it took to recognize the situation and plan her escape.
Today, Tracey is channeling her experience into advocacy, working with WINGS, Illinois' largest domestic violence intervention organization. Her words are truly inspiring:
"Grief doesn’t break us, it heals us and can be a gift if we choose to see it that way because it strengthens us... I believe confidence is born from courage."
It was a true privilege to provide the photography for Tracey's feature. Capturing the strength, resilience, and inherent worth of individuals is at the heart of what we do here at Chicago Boudoir Photography, and contributing to Tracey's narrative felt incredibly meaningful.
Being part of a feature on Lingerie Briefs is particularly special because I deeply admire their mission:
"Lingerie Briefs is my virtual Lingerie boutique. The merchandise that I feature are all products I have personally reviewed and which I would be proud to carry 1 in my own shop. It is an artistic and literary destination providing insight to both the Lingerie Industry and Lingerie Consumer. Our mission is to prove that 'lingerie is the poetry in a women's wardrobe'"
"Lingerie is the poetry in a women's wardrobe." 💕 How beautiful is that?
It speaks volumes about seeing beyond the garment to the person, their story, and their spirit – something we aim for in every single session at our studio. Stories like Tracey's, shared on platforms like Lingerie Briefs, showcase this poetry and the incredible courage it often takes to reclaim it.
Thank you again to Lingerie Briefs, Ellen Lewis, Natori Lingerie, and especially Tracey, for allowing Chicago Boudoir Photography to be a small part of sharing this empowering story. 🙏
