From Self-Doubt to Self-Worth: Liz Hansen on Life = Choices; Choices = Life

Choosing Self-Worth: My Interview on Life = Choices; Choices = Life

Sometimes the most powerful transformations don’t happen because we change ourselves—but because we finally see ourselves.

I recently had the honor of being a guest on the Life = Choices; Choices = Life podcast with host Kim Olver, and our conversation was so rich, honest, and meaningful that it naturally became a two-part episode. This interview dives deep into self-discovery, confidence, body image, and the courageous choice to reclaim your worth—exactly as you are.

In this episode, Kim and I explore what it really means to feel at home in your body and why confidence has nothing to do with size, age, or perfection—and everything to do with self-acceptance.

A Journey from Education to Empowerment

During Part One of the interview, I share my personal journey—from working in education to becoming the owner of Chicago Boudoir Photography—and how that transition was rooted in a deeper calling: helping women reconnect with themselves.

What began as photography quickly became something far more meaningful. Over the years, I’ve watched thousands of women walk into my studio feeling nervous, self-critical, or disconnected from their bodies… and walk out feeling powerful, grounded, and seen.

Not because their bodies changed—but because their relationship with themselves did.

Boudoir Photography as a Tool for Transformation

Boudoir photography is often misunderstood. In this conversation, Kim and I unpack what actually happens during a boudoir session—and why it can be such a deeply transformative experience.

We talk about:

  • How trust and emotional safety are intentionally built in the studio

  • What it means to be photographed in a way that honors who you truly are

  • Why seeing yourself—without filters, without harsh self-judgment—can be a radical act of self-acceptance

Boudoir isn’t about becoming someone else. It’s about recognizing the worth that has always been there.

Worth Isn’t Earned—It’s Inherent

One of the core themes of this episode is self-worth.

Together, Kim and I discuss how so many women are conditioned to believe their value is tied to roles, productivity, appearance, or achievements. But true worth isn’t something you earn—it exists simply because you are alive.

Your body is not a project to fix.

It is a vessel that has carried your story.

And it deserves to be celebrated.

Who Chooses Boudoir—and Why

We also explore the many reasons women choose a boudoir experience. These sessions often mark powerful moments of transition, including:

  • Milestones and birthdays

  • New beginnings

  • Healing after divorce, illness, loss, or major life changes

Each session is different, because each woman’s story is different. What unites them all is the desire to reconnect—with confidence, with ownership, and with self-trust.
