8 Reasons I Love Being a Boudoir Photographer
8 years! Wow! That feels a little crazy to say out loud!
What started as an idea (and a whole lot of figuring things out as I went) has turned into something so much bigger than I ever imagined.
As I hit the 8-year anniversary of running Chicago Boudoir Photography, I found myself reflecting on why I still love what I do so much.
So here it is…
8 years in business, and 8 reasons I love being a boudoir photographer:
#1 – I get to witness major confidence boosts in real time.
Many women look at their boudoir photos at my studio and say, “I can’t believe that’s me. I’ve never seen myself like this before! Is that really me?!” I honestly get the chills every time I hear it. And yes, girl - that is YOU!
#2 - I get to live out my life mission everyday.
Yes, I’m running a business, so sometimes I’m working on boring stuff like taxes and insurance and optimizing keywords. But mostly, I get to focus on helping women feel empowered. (Learn more about my mission here!)
#3 - I work with a fabulous team.
The Chicago Boudoir Photography studio team has never been a solo adventure. A big thank you to the hair and makeup artists, retouchers and the other behind-the-scenes women who make the boudoir magic happen!
#4- I love "boudoir energy." It is always a party at the boudoir studio!
Every woman who steps into my studio wants to be there. There might be some nerves, but underneath it all, there’s some genuine excitement too. It's super fun to be a part of that.
#5 - I learn something from every single woman who trusts me to capture their beauty.
I've photographed lawyers and teachers and rabbis and circus performers and stay-at-home-moms and accountants and everything in-between. Every person has a unique story and I love hearing about it. It's an honor to be a small part of someone's confidence journey.
#6 - I get to celebrate all kinds of bodies.
There is no such thing as a good body or a bad body. All bodies are worth documenting and photographing. Sexy is not a size! I believe that women who love their bodies and love themselves will change the world! That's why I do what I do!
#7 - I get to interact with 10,000+ incredible women in my VIP Facebook group.

No two boudoir sessions are ever the same. Every day is a unique challenge and reward.
Eight years in, and I still feel incredibly lucky to do this work!
