Top Excuses for Not Doing a Boudoir Photoshoot... Debunked!

So, you’re thinking about doing a boudoir photoshoot but something is holding you back? Maybe it’s the idea of stripping down in front of a stranger, or maybe you’re uncomfortable with your body shape. Whatever it is, trust me, you are not alone! As a boudoir photographer, I’ve heard just about every excuse in the book for why women don’t want to seem to get in front of the camera. But the truth is, the experience can be incredibly empowering and transformative. I want to debunk some of those common excuses you might have floating around in your head and convince you to take that leap of faith!

This one I hear a lot - “I’m just too shy.”

First of all, being shy is okay! I understand that putting yourself in front of the camera can be intimidating. But as an experienced boudoir photographer, I can assure you that my priority is always making my clients feel comfortable and safe. It’s my job to guide you through the entire process, making it a fun and exciting experience.

Another classic - “I don’t have a ‘boudoir body.’”

This is probably the most common concern I hear from potential clients. But the truth is, there IS no such thing as a “boudoir body.” Boudoir is all about letting your natural beauty shine through, no matter what your body looks like. I encourage all women to embrace their unique shapes and sizes and focus on celebrating what makes them feel beautiful.

The understandable - “I can’t afford it.”

I get it - boudoir photoshoots can be an investment. However, having professional photos taken of yourself is a worthwhile expense. These photos are a tangible reminder of your beauty and self-confidence, something that lasts a lifetime. Talk to me about payment plans, the investment in yourself is worth it!

The easily debunked - “I don’t have anyone to give the photos to.”

One of the most empowering aspects of boudoir photography is that it’s ALL about YOU. Sure, these photos make great anniversary or wedding gifts, but ultimately, you should be doing it for yourself. This is a chance to focus on and appreciate your own beauty, your own sensuality, and your own self-worth. You deserve that.

The one that holds most women back - “I’ll do it when I lose weight/get in shape.”

Another common excuse that I encourage women to ditch. You are beautiful and worthy just as you are right now. The purpose of boudoir photography isn’t to create a false sense of perfection, but to celebrate the beauty that already exists. We will always find flaws in ourselves. When your future self looks back on these photos, the focus will be on the newfound confidence and beauty you discovered, not on a number on a scale.

So, there you have it - five excuses debunked! Being a boudoir photographer, I’ve seen firsthand how transformative and empowering this experience can be for women of all shapes, sizes, and ages. The key is to let go of your fears and trust in the process and ultimately, yourself. Remember, boudoir photoshoots are all about celebrating YOU and your natural beauty. So, if you’re on the fence about booking your own boudoir shoot, give yourself permission to take that leap of faith and see what happens. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
