Boudoir myths debunked

As a boudoir photographer, I hear a lot of myths about boudoir. Let me debunk some common myths about boudoir for you!

MYTH #1: You need to have a perfect body to do a boudoir photoshoot

If you have a body, it’s perfect for a boudoir photo shoot. There is no ‘right’ body type when it comes to boudoir photography. Boudoir is all about loving your one-of-a-kind self. Whether you’re curvy, petite or anywhere in between, you’re perfectly poised for a boudoir shoot. Promise!

MYTH #2: You need to do a boudoir photoshoot for someone else

While boudoir photos make a great gift, these sessions aren’t exclusively for the benefit of others. Boudoir photography is all about celebrating you. If you want to share this celebration of self with someone, great! But a boudoir photoshoot is mostly for YOU!

MYTH #3: Everyone will see your images online

No need to worry - we NEVER share any boudoir images without signed permission. We will always keep all of the images from your boudoir photoshoot 100% private. But consider this also - your boudoir images are going to be so beautiful and so classy that you might end up wanting to share them anyway!

MYTH #4: You need expensive lingerie

Some of my favorite spots to grab beautiful lingerie are anything but expensive. Affordable lingerie can look absolutely fantastic on camera. If you’re working with a budget (or just want a lot of options at affordable prices), there are lots of deals out there!

MYTH #5: You have to wear lingerie

Real talk: you don’t have to wear lingerie during your shoot. Your boudoir shoot is all about y-o-u and what you love. If panties and bralettes aren’t your thing, throw them to the wind. Here are some fun no-lingerie options: white sheets only, a sexy lacy dress, sports jerseys, and button down shirt.
