Tanlines and Your Boudoir Shoot: Come As You Are!
Lines create an experience beyond the literal. There is so much potential in losing and finding the line again. Like letting go and being awakened. Lines, like music, create potential for mystery.

You can look great in a boudoir shoot if you are pale, if you are tan and if you have tan lines. Basically, we can make you look great no matter what!
A boudoir shoot can be a nerve-wracking experience and it’s very normal to feel nervous before your shoot. Of course, I work with women who EXUDE confidence, but the vast majority of women that come in are extremely anxious that they won’t look good on camera. I firmly believe in the magic of boudoir photography and that every woman can look fabulous, no matter what.
It’s August, but also it’s 2020, so all of our summer plans have been disrupted. We’ve been inside more, vacations have been disrupted and a variety of anxieties and health threats have taken their tolls. One way this is manifested for some women is in their complexions—i.e. their tan lines. Tanning salons and local beaches have had sporadic closures so it’s been particularly hard to do the work of tanning.
Though my complexing goes from snow white to beet red in like 2 minutes, I empathize with women who like to bronze in the sunny season. I am in fact sometimes envious of the beautiful tanned ladies I see out and about when my skin just doesn’t do that. However, in the studio skin tone is a different story.
In the studio, under strong lighting, natural looks best. When I say natural, I mean come as you are! Here are a couple of ladies who, like me, didn’t come in with a tan:
Listen, if you come in with tan lines, I’m going to think you look great and I’m going to put you in the best light to make you look smashing. If you still prefer the no-tan lines look you can take any of the following steps:
Go ahead with the shoot and request airbrushing wherever you think it’s needed (some tan line retouching will incur an extra cost)
Spray tan - a quick and easy fix, but be careful to avoid looking orange
Selecting outfits that match your lines
I truly believe that each woman has their own unique beauty and light that comes from within. Let me show you!
