Some empowering thoughts during the Covid-10 shut-down from Chicago Boudoir Photography

This worldwide pandemic of Covid-19 / Coronavirus has of course thrown us all for a major loop. It’s hard to imagine that there is anyone in the United States and perhaps anyone in the ENTIRE WORLD who has not been affected by this in one way or another.

I’m a boudoir photographer and I believe in empowering women through beautiful portraits. I believe in confidence and female power. But if I’m being honest, this whole Covid-19 lockdown has left me feeling powerless rather than empowered. I have had some dark days this month while everything has been closed (including the Chicago Boudoir Photography studio).

But I also believe that we can find happiness, empowerment and confidence, even during our darkest times.

Here are three empowering thoughts for you during this Covid-19 shutdown:

1) Self-care is paramount.

You’re not going to get through this kind of global crisis without caring for yourself. Self-care can mean a nap or bubble bath, but it is also ANYTHING that is caring for your emotional, mental or physical health. And that looks different for everyone, depending on what fills up YOUR personal cup. What are you doing for self-care? Are you working on a project, getting extra sleep? Maybe you’re taking a break from social media or phoning friends you haven’t connected with in years. I’d love to hear what is working for you! If you want to read more about self-care, THIS is a great article.

2. After this shutdown is over, I am going to be more willing to take risks.

I tend to overthink and overplan things in my personal life, but this shutdown is convincing me to live a little bit bigger and to stretch myself a bit more. I am going to be more willing to take that trip, start a big project and do things out of my comfort zone. I’m convinced more than ever that there’s no moment like the present, and absolutely no reason to not live life to its fullest.

3. This too shall pass.

I know it seems like we’re going to be in this shut-down FOREVER. But we’re not. This will end businesses and parties and gatherings WILL all come to life again. And when that moment coes, we will all enjoy life with more joy and love in our hearts - that is truly something to look forward to! I believe that we will experience moments of greater joy than we can even imagine, precisely because we have been through this dark time together.

I hope that you are doing ok and staying well. What are your thoughts right now? Drop me a line anytime - I love to chat. Call/ text me at 312.448.8889
