The 5 People You DO NOT Want to Bring to Your Boudoir Shoot

“People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do.”– Isaac Asimov

When I’m booking session times for my clients, I’m frequently asked if they can bring someone else to the shoot. Listen, I get it. Boudoir is several shades of gray removed from shooting porn, but on the other hand until you’ve seen the studio you want to be careful. I always emphasize that this studio is in a commercial space, it’s a safe environment. I only shoot women and my staff is 100% female. I’m also one of the world’s most boring boudoir photographers.

A shoot with Chicago Boudoir is an empowering experience, a way to pamper yourself. Would you invite people to watch you get a massage? How about to get your hair colored? How about to a bikini wax? Yes at some point most of you will show these photos to a romantic partner and maybe more, but it’s not always a great idea to have someone behind the scenes with you.

One of my key roles is your Boudoir Hype Woman! I can draw the confidence and swagger out of the women who come to the studio. I create a positive environment, removed from the daily routine where women are more beautiful, bold and sexy than they are anywhere else.

I may agree to allow a guest in the studio, but those exceptions are rare. You’re NOT going to want to bring the following kinds of people with you:

  • Men. Not allowed in the studio during shoots, even if they are the the romantic partner you’re doing the shoot for! This is a woman’s boudoir studio and it’s all part of the package

  • Boudoir skeptics. No one who comes in thinking that boudoir is skeez or trashy need enter. It’s not. We don’t waste time on this conversation.

  • Amateur boudoir photographers. Sorry, we both need to focus! I have done thousands of shoots, I know my lights, studio space and sets and I can do the best posing for you.

  • Anyone with negative energy. Here are a few examples:

    • Mothers or mothers-in-law who think you need to lose weight.

    • Ever have one of those friends who only wants to talk about her recent breakup? Hard no!

How about instead you bring people who raise you up, are happy when you succeed and encourage you every step of the way? Think hard about how much you want the presence of positive energy in your life, inside and outside the boudoir shoot.

Bottom line, a boudoir shoot is about YOU. My recommendation is that you step out of your daily life and relationships and be a supermodel for a day. Don’t bring anyone that can hinder this positive energy in any way. I’d be so delighted to have you in the studio!!!
