Maria’s photoshoot at the Chicago Boudoir Photography studio
“This was a step in my healing journey.”
When Maria and I spoke on the phone for the first time, I felt like we were already friends. There was an instant bond just in a short conversation. Maria had recently read a book entitled “No Happy Endings.” The book resonated with Maria’s own journey with grief and loss. In one section the book, the author Nora McInerny mentions that she had boudoir photos taken. The idea stuck with Maria and she eventually called me to schedule an appointment. As soon as I got off the phone with Maria, I grabbed a copy “No Happy Endings” from my local library and read it too. Highly recommend!
Maria arrived at the Chicago Boudoir Photography studio with some nerves - she had never done something like this before. She was stepping out of her comfort zone, but she was ready to celebrate herself! Maria is a mom and has had a successful career in academia. She’s been through some painful experiences, but is still willing to see the good in life. Maria’s joyful spirit and confidence was on display the whole time she was in the studio.
Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at Maria’s boudoir photoshoot from start to finish at the Chicago Boudoir Photography studio:
Maria opted for a deep red lip and a light smokey eye for her hair and makeup look:
Here are some of Maria’s favorite images from her photoshoot. Doesn’t she look absolutely amazing?
Maria chose a beautiful 8 inch album with a red leather cover. She told me that she pulls it out often, just to remind herself of her innate beauty and power. I absolutely love the finished product that we were able to create together. This was a powerful step in her healing journey.

**Update: Maria has been at the Chicago Boudoir Photography studio for 2 photo shoots! We had an amazing time during both shoots. Thanks for coming to the studio, Maria! I had such a blast with you and hope to see you again soon. xo Liz
